Spring Herb Seeds Have Germinated

February 21, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

The first of the spring herb seeds have germinated!  I expect that planting of all the spring herbs and vegies will begin in earnest in a few weeks.

One of my favorite times of the year is getting all my seeds organized in preparation, for what I expect will be an exciting season.  The markets have opened up registration for 2009, and you will find me in a variety of local markets this year, including Portland and Salem.

I’ll be sure to post dates and times as the season progresses.  Also in the works are some farm dinners, in collaboration with Nick’s Italian, and the Oregon Wine Tasting Room, this summer here at the farm.  Contact info@solsticeherbals.com if you are interested.

New Research Project: The Acetate Path

December 8, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Solstice Herbals will be working on some exciting new research projects over the winter. It will involve a technique called the The Acetate Path, or “Wet Way”. This involves combining herbal preparations with minerals to speed up the metal’s evolution.

Alchemy has always regarded metallic preparations as the most effective healing agents. However, they are much more difficult and time consuming to prepare, and a good deal of plant work needs to be completed before attempting them.

Suffice it to say there are many steps to this process, and there will not be any commercially available product available till later in the year. We’ll keep you posted!

Winter is here!

The first of the winter frosts has hit us here in Oregon, so the garden is heading into hibernation till next spring. It was a great season, with some very rewarding results.

I was particularly happy with the gynostemma, which made a great first showing growing into thick, lush stands of leafy greens.

The echinacea, chinese red sage, and baical skull cap all got off to a great start as well. They will need a few more seasons before their root mass is large enough to harvest, but they all put off a great deal of blossoms, which is very encouraging. Looking forward to spring already.

Just a heads up to everybody: I’ll be at the International Alchemy Conference in Las Vegas Oct 10-12!

Located just minutes (four blocks) west of the Strip on Sahara, the Palace Station Resort is close to every attraction you might care to visit in Las Vegas during the conference. The International Alchemy Conference occupies nearly 10,000 square-feet of the second floor conference area. Take the escalator up to the Feast Buffet and turn right to the registration area.
