Spagyric Plant Essences
Plant essences are traditional herbal preparations that involve separating what alchemist’s termed a plant’s:
•Soul (essential oils of herb)
•Spirit (alcohol)
•Body (extracted mineral salts from incinerated herb).
Herbs are steam distilled to capture their oil, then calcined to prepare their mineral salts.
The oil and salt are later recombined with 190 proof biodynamic grape spirits. These three essentials are gently circulated in special glassware to realign, expand, and enervate the preparation.
Essences concentrate the medicinal properties of certain herbs, and should be used accordingly. Essential oils are powerful substances, and just a few drops of an essence will yield a full therapeutic dose. Spagyric plant essences are also useful for mind and spirit, due to the energetically sensitive nature of their preparation.

Spagyric Tinctures
Spagyric is a term used in alchemic literature meaning: to ‘draw out and recombine’. I create my tinctures using fresh herbs from the farm, and biodynamic grape spirits. Solstice Farm employs permaculture, organic, astrological, biodynamic growing techniques.Herbs macerate for several months in alcohol before processing. After extraction is complete, the finished herb body is incinerated in order to extract the plant’s mineral salts. This is done by way of evaporating dissolved salts in washed, calcined ash.
Alchemists recognized plant salts as a vital component. These purified salts are an essential cofactor for assimilation and absorption due to their ionic and piezo-electric nature.
Dosage is generally one to two droppers every few hours as needed during illness, or 2-3x a day as a preventative or health aid.

Medicinal Balms
My medicinal balms are solar shea butter infusions that are combined with essential oils, and local beeswax. My anagesic massage balm is great for sore, bruised, and inflammed muscles and connective tissue. Arnica, and Notoginseng are used as the infusion herbs, both remarkable healers for all types of trauma. Then I add in oils of Helicrysum, Peppermint, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, and Frankencense. This stuff goes deep!

More on Spagyric Plant Essences:
This is a concentrated plant medicine; a premier spagyric alchemical product. This medicine is created by a 3-fold process. It involves separation of the 3 spagyric essentials, which are sulfur (volatile oils), mercury (alcohol), and salt (mineral salts bound to plant cellulose). After harvesting a given herb during appropriate astrological timing, one must first steam distill off the volatile oils, or sulfur. This represents a plant’s Soul, or Personality, and is the fiery element of a plant.
The mush of the plant left over from the steam distillation is what we derive our mineral salts from for this medicine. The salt of our herb plays an important part in how a plant medicine works. The mineral salts change the ionic signature of our final product, and assist the body in recognizing complex plant compounds. Salts are also how many compounds diffuse across cell walls. Including plant salts in herbal preparations aids in absorbability as the intestinal system spends less time breaking down unknown compounds, and thus more of a plant’s medicinal properties are available to the body. Also, they are necessary for the essential oils to diffuse, and preserve, in the alcohol.
Spiritually speaking, there must be a body(salt), for the soul(essential oil), to incarnate into. Minerals have been on the planet for much longer than plants or humans, and thus have more cosmic energy condensed into their bodies. The crystalline structure of salts give structure and form to more fluid properties of energy at work in plants.
The mineral salts are bound to plant cellulose, and are left out of virtually ALL commercial extract products, as the plant body is generally thrown away after alcohol, water, or CO2 extraction. So, what we do next is fairly simple.
We take the mush from steam distillation, and burn it to a fine ash over the course of multiple hours to days. It will go from black, to grey, to a fine white chalk substance. We call this process calcination. Once we have our ash, and have ground it in a mortar, we extract the water-soluble salts by leaching them off with distilled water from the ash, and then evaporating the water to leave our water-soluble salts.
Our salts are now added back to our mercury (alcohol), and finally we reintroduce our sulfur (volatile oils). The alcohol, or mercury, is representative of Universal Sprit because it amalgamates, blends, and preserves all the medicinal properties of our herb. I use very pure grape spirits from biodynamic wine, which are arguably the best commercially available. Volatile oils, water-soluble components, alcohol-soluble components, and mineral salts are all soluble in alcohol.
Now we circulate the 3 united elements in special expansion chambers to smooth and even out the essence, as well as to ‘open’ it to cosmic forces at work. Alcohol was not named ’spirits’ for no reason. It is very receptive to all types of influences, including psychic and astrological.
Once the 3 elements have spent sufficient time circulating, we will have completed our medicine. This is all done in glassware, AND under the most appropriate astrological weather to preserve the purity of our medicine physically, and energetically. In the process we have extracted all the most precious and vital parts of a plant, purified and concentrated them, and then recombined them into an extremely powerful plant medicine.
